Prevagen (Apoaequorin) Reviews - What Is It?

WARNING: DO NOT BUY Prevagen (Apoaequorin) Until You Read This Review!
Is it a Scam? Does It Really Work? Check Ingredients, Side Effects and More! Michael Young

At the age of about 40 our brain starts to fail sometimes as it needs additional cognitive support. Prevagen is a new product in the market that promises to improve a person's memory within 90 days, so that you will be able to recall where you have put your keys or a purse or names of your new acquaintances. The manufacturer of the product claims that it has been clinically tested, but let's find out whether this supplement is really so effective.

Prevagen is made in the USA and has its own official website. The latter is quite informative but it lacks data on such major questions as the ingredients of the supplement and its possible side effects. This is the only product manufactured by this badly known company. It is claimed that Prevagen promotes healthy functioning of brain, sharper mind, better memory and clearer Thinking. The results have to be seen within 90 days.

Ingredients of Prevagen - Does It Really Work? Is It a Scam?

Prevagen website mentions that the supplement contains only one active ingredient - the apoaequorin protein. What amount of this substance is included into the product isn't clear. It makes me think that the amounts can be so miserable that they can be hardly noticed by the human body. Apoaequorin is said to improve cognitive function that is especially important for older adults.

Prevagen

One of the clinical studies involving 218 adults showed that daily consumption of 10 mg of apoaequorin can significantly improve the ability to recall information. This substance is believed to enhance calcium homeostasis. Usually, calcium dysregulation is connected with the beginning of dementia and cognitive dysfunction. Apoaequorin can protect neurons from ischemic cell death and regulate intracellular calcium levels, but it is unknown what dosages of the substance should be taken each day.

It is stated that Apoaequorin has a positive effect on functioning of short term memory. And once again we don't know how much and how often should this substance be taken in order to have any visible results. Prevagen manufacturers don't mention the amount of this ingredient in the supplement as well. This makes me not trust the company.

I can suppose that Apoaequorin can positively influence only people with mild impairment, suggesting no possibility to use this product for the treatment of people suffering from mild dysfunction to frank dementia. As you can see, this ingredient isn't so effective in fighting serious cognitive issues. It may be taken as a vitamin by people who want to support their brain function. We'll find out whether the supplement has any side effects in the next part of this review.

Customer Reviews - Does It Have Any Side Effects?

The manufacturer gives no information on possible side effects of Prevagen and this makes me doubt in its safety. The product can be hardly called natural as its main ingredient, apoaequorin, isn't directly extracted from the jellyfish. It is artificially grown in the laboratory environment. On its own, this substance is unable to solve cognitive problems in people. Besides, it may carry potential dangers which have been kept back by the manufacturer. The dosage of the supplement remains under a big question.

However, the opinion of Prevagen's manufacturers sounds different. Since apoaequorin is very similar to the calcium-binding proteins, produced in the human organism, it is free from side effects. Is this protein produced by humans that lets us think so? You can't be protected from any side effects of the product made artificially. It has to be checked for drug interactions. Prevagen is said to be non-toxic. It can be used in combination only with calcium-modulating pharmaceuticals. No information is known about apoaequorin's effect on cardiac or muscular systems.

One should take caution when using Prevagen with other prescription medications. It is imperative to talk to your physician first as any consequences may occur. The company claims that the product is safe and is well ingested by the human body. However, there have been some reports of side effects, namely, strokes, seizures, and worsening symptoms of multiple sclerosis. It is also mentioned that Prevagen is non-allergenic. This is a bold supposition, I should say, because nowadays a lot of people are allergic with fish. And jellyfish has much in common with sea fish, even though it is not a fish.

Prevagen is the supplement the main ingredient of which is a protein (apoaequorin). But proteins cannot pass through the intestinal tract before they are broken down to the constituent amino acids. Does Prevagen enter the body without this transformation? If yes, then I am worried about the high risk of allergic reactions. Some other side effects of the product include diminished capacity in MS patients. They develop seizure disorder. Some users inform about swelling of their legs after using Prevagen.

"Well, I have to say that my months supply of Prevagen is almost gone and I felt absolutely NOTHING! Not worth the money"

"Having a degree in biochemistry, it's my opinion that Prevagen does almost nothing more than the placebo effect"

"Warning Letter the FDA sent to the manufacturer follows: In total, our inspection found records of more than 1000 adverse events and product complaints. Some of these involved heart arrhythmias, chest pain, vertigo, tremors, and syncope (fainting), in addition to the seizures, strokes, and worsening of multiple sclerosis"

Where To Buy Prevagen?

Prevagen can be purchased almost anywhere - Walmart, Walgreens, Amazon, GNC, etc. However, it is not recommended to buy a product of this kind from unknown retailer websites. It's advised to purchase supplements from official websites only to avoid the problem of a forgery. Prevagen website sells the product for $45 with standard shipping of $6.

My Final Summary

Most doctors can't recommend Prevagen for usage because it has a lot of disadvantages. It isn't FDA approved. Unfortunately, the website concealed side effects that may occur as a result of the treatment. The supporting studies described on the website were very limited, so they should not be trusted. The evidence supporting the supplement is not quantitative and mostly anecdotal. The research showed that apoaequorin benefits users by improving their mental clarity, enhancing their memory, honing their skills to make decisions, and helping them to focus. But these claims haven't been confirmed by the FDA.

As for the advantages of the product, they include an informative video explaining how Prevagen will enhance the work of brain. Age influences the human body in different ways, and Prevagen is really good for the brain but with the product's shortcomings, I am not ready to recommend it to patients.

Affordable Alternative

Prevagen is not the best option for you to choose if you want to improve memory and support your health. There are many other alternatives which use some other approaches towards the problem. I study different products and I can say that one of them is worth your attention. It is NooCube. I recommend you reading my review about NooCube. You will get hope for future with it!
